After discovering Microsoft Lync, I managed to convince my school board and colleagues to implement this wonderful tool to promote distance learning (and blended learning = 50% distance learning). This tool allows us to deliver synchronous teaching, while the students are in their familiar environment (at home). Apart from the fact Lync approaches strongly a 'real' class situation (by using microphone, webcam, screen sharing, etc), this tool also offers a lot of benefits: lessons can be recorded and reviewed by students. The chat promotes collaboration, participation and interaction. The computer screen of students can even be taken over so the teacher can help executing tasks.
